Level 1 - Working In Partnership What are the barriers to partnerships and how do we overcome them? What can go wrong with partnerships? People with learning disabilities and organisations sometimes have different ideas about how to do things. They may not agree about what should happen. We may need to hold more than one sort of meeting -
we may need to have shorter workshops with group work and videos for people who don't enjoy long meetings. This is to make sure that everyone can take part. Boards will find things can get in their way as they try to support people with learning disabilities to take part in the same activities as everyone else. For example,
- They may need more money to support people to use local services or
- .They may find that some people don't want people with learning disabilities to take part in activities - like not wanting them to take part in a keep fit class or to use the bus, for example.
Also, the Government has a timetable for when they think things should be done. It can be hard for Boards to stick to this Valuing People timetable and to keep everyone involved at the same time.
